Tell us a little about yourself:
Victoria Marin graduated from New York University in 1995 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Early in her career, she was an instructor for the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants Program at Rockland Community College and was a member of the faculty at Dominican College. Now, as a stay-at-mom of 5 children, she is an author of children’s literature. Her first book, Aiden’s Waltz, is about a young boy with Autism who overcomes his challenges through the art of ballroom dancing. Aiden’s Waltz was awarded 5 stars from Readers Favorites Book Reviews and was recommended as a teaching tool for parents and educators.

As a work at home parent what is your biggest challenge?
As a work at home parent, my biggest challenge is finding a quiet area to write and conduct interviews. With 5 children, it can be very noisy and distracting at home. Quite often, business phone calls are made from my car! My younger children do not understand that I am working from a home office, therefore, interruptions are frequent. Nonetheless, with organization and determination, I am able to succeed as a work at home parent.

What is the biggest advantage to being a work at home parent?
The biggest advantage to being a work at home parent is that I can schedule around the needs of my family which allows me to be an active part of my children’s lives.

As a work at home parent what advice would you give other work at home parents?
I would advise other work at home parents to schedule “office hours” which fit into the hectic lives of your children. Another bit of advice would be to fall in love with your crock pot. By doing so, I am able to prepare home cooked meals which we can enjoy as a family each evening.

Craig Garber Author Interview with @BookGoodies

Author Craig Garber joins BookGoodies podcast host Deborah Carney to talk about books, writing and current projects.

The son of a toll collector, Craig grew up in an apartment housing project in the Bronx, with “tales of a misspent youth” as his background.

However, because of his unyielding optimism and his “iron man” work ethic… Craig somehow managed to overcome divorce, bankruptcy, and an extremely dysfunctional childhood, to become one of the highest paid and most in-demand copywriters and direct-marketing consultants in America.

A long way from the gritty apartment housing projects he grew up in, today Craig lives in a sprawling lake-house just outside of Tampa, Florida, with his wife Anne and their three children, and their dogs and cats. When he’s not working, you’ll nd him traveling, working out, taking photos, out back reading and smoking a cigar, listening to music, or bass fishing on his lake.

Joseph Picard Author Interview

Sci-fi author Joseph Picard joins BookGoodies host Deborah Carney to discuss his journey from writer to publication as well as his current projects.

From Joseph:
I’ve been fumbling with self-pub for roughly a decade, when it was becoming apparent I had a novel on my hands. After looking into (but venturing into) the tedium of submitting to traditional publishers, self-pub seemed the way to go. But of course, it’s not all simple, and there’s a lot of scams (and plain bad deals) out there to avoid.

I was lucky enough to have a skillset (graphic arts, photoshop, patience for general computer BS) that allowed me to get most of what needed to be done on my own, and am working on my fourth book.

Sci-fi author of Lifehack, Watching Yute, and ‘Echoes of Erebus’
